How to wash your car like a pro + Review

Let's be honest, for most of us*, cleaning the car is a necessary evil.  A chore to be undertaken when the car gets so dirty that it's no longer possible to recognise what model it is anymore.  Perhaps I exaggerate a little but up until now it has either been an hour with a bucket and sponge or taking it to the car wash.

(* Except our neighbour, who cleans both his cars EVERY weekend, come rain or shine!!!)

We've been looking at getting a pressure washer for ages so when the people from Homebase got in touch offering us to review the Karcher K2 we said yes straight away! To say that Hubby is delighted with how this little machine has simplified the car washing process is an understatement. He even got some extra accessories that just take the whole thing to a new level and although it involves some initial expense, if you normally take your car to the car-wash, you would recover the investment quite quickly.  Even if you normally do it at home -or procrastinate doing it at home - the time/ effort saved by using the Karcher totally makes up for the money spent.

These are the accessories that came with our model:

And these are the steps we follow and the accessories we use:

1- Dirt blaster: remove most of the dirt with this tool. This will also wet the car ready for the next step.

2- Foam Spray Nozzle/ car wash shampoo: here comes the fun stuff!  Fill the nozzle bottle with the car wash shampoo and spray it all over the car (Hubby got a bit carried away at this point and it looked like he was having a foam party on our driveway...)

3- Car wash brush - Lightly brush the car, working the foam to remove any remaining dirt/grease.

4- Hand gun - wash the foam off to leave a happy, shiny car!

For a real pro-finish, dry the car off with a chamois leather.

Our thoughts about the Karcher K2 Pressure Washer

PROS:  Easy to assemble, reasonably powerful jet wash.  Good range of flexible attachments.

CONS:  The power cable is a bit short.

Overall, it's a pretty neat piece of kit.  We've only used it so far to clean the car but we'll soon be trying out the drive/patio cleaning accesory too. We'll let you know how it goes!

And to finish off, an actual shot of hubby playing around with the new toy. (You didn't think the gentleman in the first picture was Mr. Eight; did you? My swetheart is more handsome! ;) )

Pssst Homebase and Karcher are giving you the chance to win one of three almighty Karcher Bundles by entering a super fun competition.

 How to enter:

Step 1 – Snap a photo of something you need to clean or simply tell them why you need a Karcher

Step 2 – Share through your social media accounts (Twitter / Instagram), including the hashtag #INeedAKarcher @Homebase_UK

Step 3 - That's it, you can find your photograph and more details about the competition on this website.

You have until the 31st May 2015 to enter.

Good luck!
