This is another post in my Home Tour series where I show you every room in our house in its current state. We bought this brand new four bedroom house just over a year ago. The day we moved in it was just a bare all-white house and now it's time to start decorating it! Today it's the turn of the master bedroom.
At the moment the room is just all white, with the divan base we reupholstered ourselves back here.
Accessories such as cushions, throws and ornaments are the ones bringing a pop of colour into the room. And this cute chap, never fails to bring a smile to my face every morning! :)
A fluffy, high quality duvet is a must to truly enjoy nights snuggled up in bed. We'll be upgrading ours to an "all year" one from Downduvet.co.uk.
Our bedside tables are actually cheap kids chest of drawers that we jazzed up a little bit by adding glass knobs. I'm considering up-cycling them further by changing their colour or maybe just replacing them altogether. I'm not sure yet. I'm not the kind of person that has it all figured out before I start decorating. I wish I was!
You might have already guessed this but this is my side of the table.
And this one is hubby's. A place for emptying those never ending long manly pockets every night is an essential in every guys bedside table, isn't it?
Our wardrobes were already fitted by the developer who built the houses so they are not our personal choice.
I would probably go for something glossier and more modern like some of the ranges that Betta Living are offering. They are to die for!
For our windows we went for these wooden venetian blinds and I'm yet to find some curtains I like for this room. Until then, a blackout blind would have worked better considering the long and light days we have in the north-east of Scotland (weather permitting!). I especially like the style of the ones you can get for VELUX.. So neat and discrete when they are open!
Opposite to the bed wall there is another wall where the door to our on-suite is, together with this big chest of drawers. We bought it second hand from Gumtree a few years ago with the idea of painting it yellow! but we fell in love with it and decided to keep it as it is -at least for now-.
The perfume tray is actually the picture frame that I showed you on this post. I love finding ways of making a decorative item out of storage.
That's it for now. Next time I pop by to talk about this room, it will hopefully be to update you on the decorating of it.
Gaby xx

ReplyDeleteYellow and Grey are always one of my favourite colour combos, especially in a bedroom xx
ReplyDeleteLove the pops of yellow in here - they really make it sing! I heard the other day that yellow should never be used in a bedroom as it's 'too uplifting'. I have pops of it in mine and I love it - I like to be uplifted in the morning! What a gumtree find too - I love that chest of drawers! #HomeEtc
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely. I love your yellow throw. I don't know how big your window is, but would a roman blind work? I was oohing and aahing at the lovely fabrics for them in John Lewis this week (see the yellows: http://www.johnlewis.com/browse/home-garden/fabrics/fabrics/view-all-fabrics/yellow-gold/_/N-cwiZ1z0rn5s (not spam, and I don't work for them!) #HomeEtc
