M&S ‘Throwback’ Mood Board Challenge

When the lovely people at M&S got in touch with the super cool idea of a "Throwback" mood board challenge, I accepted straight away!. The idea of looking back to a room from our past and put together a mood board on how I'd re-decorate today got me really excited. The photo below is the living room of our first house. The house that a couple with zero experience in DIY and decorating (us!) bought back in 2007.

The picture below shows you how the previous owners used to have this room.  Mmmm, not too sure about those "lovely" blue faux-leather sofas...

Here you can see what we did with it back in the day. Can you feel the decorating panic atmosphere? Can you feel it in the magnolia walls, brown furniture and cream rug? In the lack of curtains and wall art? I was petrified to put anything in that room other than the safest things ever!

I'd like to think that I'm now in a totally different place. My decorating confidence has grown exponentially. I know my style. If I had to define it I'd probably go for "cozy modern". M&S has an amazing Spring/ Summer Home Range at the moment that even the most novice decorator would find perfect for putting together their dream room. So here is what I would chose for this living room now if we were still living there :-)

1) Scrunch Loose Sofa; 2) Graphic Kilim Rug; 3) Albany Coffe Table; 4) Metal Wire Table Lamp; 5) Albany Side Table; 6) Trio Ball Topiary; 7) Cow Field Frame Wall Art; 8) Conran Jacquard Shibori Cushion; 9) Tribal Decorative Platter; 10) Knitted Pouffe
Thanks M&S for allowing me to be part of this challenge!

  1. I love what you did with the room. It looks great without those tacky blue sofas. I specially love the lamp you chose so I tried to find one similar. I found one in http://lighting55.com .
I love the green pouffe. Love it! I'll try to imitate it, since I know how to knit.
    Great post!
