Gift-wrapping Supplies Storage Solution

Happy start of 2013 bloggy friends!

We've been off work for a week now. Most of those days have been enjoyed with the family but we have also had a few of them to chill-out, just the two of us. Well  Mr. Hubby's chill out time might involve some listening to music, some playing of the Playstation etc; on the other hand, my "chill-out" time is quite likely to involve several, successive little projects.

Hubby usually asks me if I know what the word "relax" means :O). I can't help it! If I manage to sit on the sofa for some time, my head is still working really hard planning all the things I'll be doing in the future. I think it's a family thing: mum and both sisters are exactly the same!

One of those little projects I did during this time, was sorting out those wrapping paper rolls. Aren't they a nightmare to find a place to store? Our collection has been standing against a wall of our home office since we moved into our home three years ago!. That's terrible! I know! But this whole room needs some serious organizing and re-decorating. I have had some failed attempts at sorting out this room in the past. We have so much stuff in there!

Nevermind, what gave me the courage to tackle the wrapping paper situation was one of those light-bulb moments. Remember my recent trip to Ikea? Among other things I got a second Rationell Variera plastic bag dispenser.

I already had one from a previous trip to Ikea that was bought to be used with plastic bags but as it didn't work in my kitchen, it ended up upstairs in the office. The idea was to keep all the rolls contained in them. I first considered putting both of them on the floor behind the door but, as you can see in the next picture that wasn't possible because we have a radiator back there:

(Ooops! Sorry about the abrupt interruption! It seems some husband needs some wife attention :o)

As the floor wasn't an option, I remembered these little beauties have some stickers at the back so why not put them on the door itself?

They also have some holes for screwing them but I wouldn't like to do that to the doors. Let's say that the sticker option is less permanent. So they went up there on the door!

One for the wrapping paper rolls and another one for the gift bows. I also added one of those damage-free hanging Command hooks that I had going around the house.

And they now live happily and quietly behind that door.

The home office is now a little less messy. Another few small projects here and there and I might get it sorted in the next three years... Just kidding, I'll be happy if it happens within the next two ;o)

On a totally different note, have you noticed any difference between my previous photographs and the ones in this post? I'm asking because I shot all the photos here in Manual mode! (Can you say I'm a tiny bit proud of that?) I've been following this free photography course at "It's overflowing" blog and I totally love it! I'm not sure if I'll be able to go back to Auto mode ever again but one of my mottos is "never say never". I recommend this course to anyone interested in improving their photography skills without going into too much technical detail.

That's all for now. I'll see you soon with another little organizing post but this time in the kitchen. See you then!
